Who we are

SpecUdate was founded by a group of college students with a vision to enhance the online dating experience. We sought to create a platform that is not only fun, but also facilitates engaging and enjoyable conversations.

How SpecUdate works

When you create a profile on SpecUdate, you also design a personal "Truth or Lie" game. This game serves as a conversation starter and is displayed to other users when they come across your profile on the app. To connect and chat with someone, both parties must correctly answer 50% or more questions about each other in the game.

SpecUdate gamifies the process of discovering new people, making it more exciting. Moreover, once you establish a connection and start chatting with someone, the game aspect helps you delve deeper into each other's interests and have more fun and interesting conversations.

By introducing the game element before connecting, SpecUdate creates a relaxed and enjoyable environment for finding friends and potential romantic partners online. As an added bonus, SpecUdate rewards users for guessing correct answers about others, adding an extra layer of engagement.

Why SpecUdate is different

In contrast with the usual "YES" or "NO" approach followed by many dating apps, SpecUdate challenges the conventional norm. These apps often become monotonous and fail to help initiate meaningful conversations once a connection is made. SpecUdate was born out of our CEO's personal frustration during his late teen years, where he found himself constantly bored on dating apps and struggling to spark interesting discussions.

SpecUdate was designed with the aim of providing a more interactive and enjoyable way to connect online. This led to the gamification of the online dating and friendship experience, setting SpecUdate apart from the rest.

The capitalization of the 'U' in SpecUdate emphasizes our focus on the individual.
